Restoring social and ecological resilience in Idanha-a-Velha

The Idanha-à-Vida Project, with its c.1600 hectares ('Herdade Marrocos'), is located around the ancient village of Idanha-a-Velha (formerly Egitania). Its heart beats with Nature and with this land that has been entrusted to us and to its people. We wish to create together a sanctuary of care for mother nature and the inhabitants of this region that will last over time.

Idanha-à-Vida is a project with a very long-term vision to use the efforts and collective wisdom of many people, both from this region and from other parts of Portugal and the world, to create ecological, social, and economic regeneration and well-being in this bioregion.

We intend to take a holistic, integrative, and awareness-based approach based on scientific evidence and research to assist the efforts of our team and our community with a spirit of respect and reciprocity.
